Hugging reduces stress and also releases the feel good chemical oxcytocin which gives us that all over good feeling. Hugs reduce fears and anxiety; that's why little ones love soft, snuggle toys such as teddy bears when they seek comfort. Hugs have been known to reduce pain. People suffering from fibromyalgia had six therapeutic touch treatments. Each treatment involved light touching on the skin.
